Herma-Mora: The Woodland Man, the ancient Atmoran demon who nearly seduced all Nords into becoming Aldmer. Ysmir: The Nordic interpretation of Talos, who defended against the power of the Greybeards long enough to hear their prophecy. The Nords hold Shor in the highest of esteems, depicting him as a bloodthirsty warrior king who led the Nords to victory over the elves of Aldmeris. He is doomed to the underworld by the other gods. With the influx of Nords from Atmora, territories in the province of Skyrim were settled and built upon. Once established, the first Nordic tribes laid the foundation for those to follow, bringing their rich history and traditions with them. The Nords of Skyrim were no different, save having to flee their lands for more hospitable regions. The vikings were very diverse seafarers from the lands of Norway, Sweden and Denmark who embarked on a quest to lands they had yet to discover for the purposes of acquiring wealth, discovery and adding to their nation’s reach. The Nords are no different in this observation, most likely taking inspiration from Scandanavian Vikings. For example, the Bretons of High Rock resemble the Celtics of ancient Ireland, where the Bosmer could be undeniably compared to Native American race and culture. The culture of the Nord is born of their past and formed by the necessity of survival.Įvery race in Tamriel has traces of real-world cultural inspiration. Tracing their lineage from the far north, a land called Atmora, the Nords migrated to southern lands amidst increasingly inhospitable climates and civil war during the Merethic and First eras. They are fierce, excitable humans and enthusiastic warriors with a rich history. The ‘children of the sky’ as they are known, are tall, hardy, fair-haired humans known for their incredible resistance to the frigid cold. Although races of all kinds can be found here, the Nord holds dominance in this territory. The northernmost province of Tamriel is a cold and mountainous land, boasting all types of landscapes from frozen peaks, quaint coastal towns and green rolling hills.
